Catherine Eskridge Eatman served as the Director of the Mary Buie Museum in Oxford, Mississippi from 1965 - 1974. Eatman and McCrady became friends after his family moved to Oxford in 1928. He painted her portrait in 1932 just before leaving the University of Mississippi to enroll in the New Orleans Art School. John McCrady opened the John McCrady Art School in New Orleans in 1942. Eatman attended classes at the school while her husband faught in World War II. She maintained a lifelong friendship with the McCrady family. |
