John Thein uses oil and watercolor painting to create expressive, figurative compositions. Many of his techniques are drawn from traditional Asian sumi-e painting. Thein received a BFA from Layton School of Art, and an MA and MFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa. He teaches drawing and printmaking as Associate Professor of Art in the Fine Art Department at Creighton University. He lives in Omaha, NE. Thein's work has been exhibited and won prizes internationally. He has had more than 30 one-man exhibitions, and has traveled widely as a teacher, conducting classes in Xian, China, Leicester, England and the Dominican Republic. His work is included in many collections throughout the world. |
