Craig Allen Subler works via printmaking and painting, taking inspiration from the museum and its function. Subler holds a BFA from Dayton Art Institute, and an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Born in Dayton, OH, Subler currently lives in Washington, D.C. and maintains a studio in Gerrardstown, WV. He retired as a Professor, Gallery of Art Director, and Chair of Printmaking at the University of Missouri-Kansas, where he was awarded the James C. Olson Professorship. Subler has been Visiting Faculty at the Imperial College in London, England, and a visiting artist at Shepherd University, Ox-Bow School of Art, and in Christchurch, NZ. Subler's work resides in the collections of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Dayton Art Institute, Cleveland Museum of Art, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, American Embassy in Libreville, Gabon, Sprint Corporation, Twentieth Century Investors Inc., Mulvane Art Museum, American Embassy Republic of Benin, and the Asheville Museum of Art. |
