Notes |
Kate Gordon is a multimedia artist who produces works via paintings, collages and videos. The wide variety of imagery and materials she uses expresses the notion that bizarre dream imagery is best suited to representing the utter strangeness of a world stitched together in an ad hoc manner. Gordon earned an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a BFA from Pratt Institute. She currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Figure Drawing & Foundations at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Gordon has shown her paintings, collages and videos nationally. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at the Hilliard Art Museum and inclusion in the Weatherspoon Art Museum's Art on Paper 2021 exhibition. She is currently working on a public video installation at Block 2-a visual platform for new media artists in Raleigh, North Carolina. Other past highlights include a solo exhibition at The Carrack, an artist run project space, in Durham, North Carolina and other exhibitions at 68 Jay Street in Brooklyn and a group exhibition at Five Points Gallery in Connecticut. |
