Jack Frankfurter was born on March 25, 1929 in Vienna, Austria. After immigrating to the United States he received a Bachelor of Science from City College of New York in 1951 and went on to receive a Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1953. Upon completion of his education, Frankfurter enlisted in the military and served as an army corporal from 1953-1955. He later went on to be an instructor at the University of Auburn (1955-1956), work as a designer for Tiffany & Co (1956-1957) before moving to Italy (1957). While in Rome, working primarily as an independent artist, he also spent time studying at the Universitá degli Studi di Roma. Frankfurter has received recognition for his realism styled paintings and work as a stage designer. His work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Wichita Art Museum, the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, the University of Cincinnati Art Museum, Museum of the Four Arts in Palm Beach. He participated in the 10th Quadriennale d'Arte in Rome. He has had over 40 solo and important invitational exhibitions in New York, Paris, Rome, Chicago, Florence, Milan, Aspen, San Francisco, London, Beverly Hills, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Dallas. |
