Joseph D'Uva's work is generated from memory and childhood, Pop culture, consumerism, and Americana. He is enchanted by the traditions, processes, and application of printmaking, specifically lithography and screenprinting. His influences include works from the Pop-art movement (by Jasper Johns, Jim Dine, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, et.al.), as well as 18th- and 19th-century prints and drawings. D'Uva holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, a PPTP Certificate from the Tamarind Institute, and an MA & MFA from the University of Iowa. Born in Ossining, NY, D'Uva lives in Canfield, OH, and is an Associate Professor of Art at Youngstown State University. Exhibitions include shows at the Museo Francisco Goitia, Glasgow Print Studio, and Steendruk Museum/Dutch Museum of Lithography, with residencies at the MUSEOGRABADO & Glasgow Print Studio. He has received a Distinguished Professorship Award from Youngstown State University. His work is in the collections of Jingdezhen Sanbao Art Institute, Dedalo Center for Contemporary Art, Canson Talens Incorporated, and Steendruk Museum/Dutch Museum of Lithography. |
