Kimberly Arp's printmaking and drawing are inspired by the mythical, magical, and transformative prescience of nature. Arp draws additional inspiration from Medieval painting and manuscripts, exploration of the natural world, and life's inherent strangeness. Arp was born in Traverse City, Michigan, and now lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He holds a BFA in Printmaking from Northwestern Michigan College and an MFA from Indiana University. Arp has taught printmaking at Louisiana State University for thirty-eight years. His work has been shown in exhibitions in Chicago, Houston, and Scotland, and he has held residencies at the Venice Printmaking Studio, Peacock Printmakers, and the Haystack School of the Crafts. Arp's work also resides in the collections of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Aberdeen Art Museum, and New Orleans Museum of Art. |
